Education is the heartbeat of our equine advocacy. By prioritizing horse care education, we provide owners, volunteers, and the public with vital resources they need to recognize the signs of neglect, understand the complexities of the slaughter pipeline, and promote responsible horse ownership. When we share our expertise, we aren't just reacting to a crisis; we are proactively building a safety net that keeps horses in their homes and out of harm's way.

A Landmark Victory for New Jersey’s Horses!
In January 2019, our very own co-founder Darlene Supnick took the floor before the New Jersey Senate to advocate for those who cannot voice their needs. She passionately testified in support of a groundbreaking bill aimed at shutting down the "slaughter pipeline" and ensuring that horses remain safe from kill buyers. This initiative isn't merely a rule change—it's a vital lifesaver for our equine community. Under this law, horse auctioneers are now strictly required to engage in community outreach aimed at horse care education by:
1. Scan and Verify: Checking every horse for microchips or tattoos.
2. Digital Transparency: Posting all horse information online for at least 72 hours before a sale.
3. Create a Safety Net: This window allows the owners of stolen horses or heartbroken past owners to have a fighting chance to locate and rescue their animals before it's too late!
4. Accountability: Auctioneers must now keep meticulous records of every sale for a full year.
The momentum was unstoppable! On May 10, 2019, Governor Phil Murphy signed this bill into law, marking a historic leap forward in equine advocacy and protection. We are incredibly proud to have been at the forefront of this change, ensuring a safer, more transparent future for every horse in New Jersey.
